To the young women out there, whether you have been brought up in a Christian home or not, the moment you gave your live to Christ the bible said ‘’therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he/she is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new’’ 2 Corinthians 5:17. It does not matter how retched your life is or was before, once you give your life back to the Lord it means God has given you another chance of a better life through His son Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour. Jesus said, ‘’he who loves his/her life will lose it, and he/she who hates his/her life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him/she follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him/she My Father will honour’’ John 12:26. Do you want God to honour you?
It will be better for young women to keep themselves virgins until they find the right man that will be their life partner, which is the first step. Also, God gave a warning “do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God” 2 Corinthians 6:14-15. Many have strayed away from the truth and have failed to fulfil their God given purpose in life. Unfortunately because of this in today’s world, many souls are perishing because they said there is no God who can save them, thousands of marriages are breaking up especially amongst young Christians couples and that is because most of our young women have not heeded the word of God in their lives, when God made it clear to us that “There is a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in Spirit” 1 Corinthians 7:34.
If you are acquainted with scripture, I hope you will gather much from the account of Mary’s life, (the mother of Jesus). The scripture reveals her to have been friendly, compassionate and caring. She was also inquisitive, sometimes a bit bossy, and yet truly humble and wise; this I believe to be what any God fearing young lady should have in them. Mary loved to spend time contemplating her future and recommitting her utmost devotion to God. She was just a young girl who lived in a common neighbourhood and at the time it hadn’t been long that she stepped out of childhood into the dawn her womanhood. A young lady, but she was brimming with life and young womanhood.
For Mary, pouring her life to God and contemplating His will was her favourite part of the day. She loved to abandon herself to Him in prayer. He was more than a God to her. He was the lover of her soul and her Lord. It will be a great misery to me if our young women who have found Jesus at a tender age will not choose to enjoy such an intimate time with their God the Father and not get carried away in the things of the world. The word of God says, “and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” Romans 12:2. This was the example Mary (the mother of Jesus) taught us with her story in the Word of God.
Unfortunately, today young women do not have older ones to guide them as taught by the word of God, in order not to go astray. Titus says, let the older women train the younger women to love their husbands and children, even teach them the word of God and how to live by it. As the Psalmist said “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You” Psalm 119:11.
We all need others to come alongside us from time to time. We need those who will encourage us in our young adulthood, regardless of the season we’re in. we need others who will hear and speak the word of God to us in truth and in kindness. I am sure you will agree with me that young women today are searching for mentors and those who are willing to disciple them, yes, they are looking for those who will believe in them and are willing to lead them into something exciting, meaningful and fruitful. They are looking for mentors who are willing to be transparent and are actually modelling something worth following. They want an example and reality.
As followers of Christ, Anointed Women with Purpose should be the example of a mentor who is transparent and modelling something worth following. What kind of a role model have you imagined yourself to be? “remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; considering the outcome of their way of life, imitate their faith” Hebrews 13:7 NAS, this what our young women need today.
A woman desiring to be a good role model must be anointed and full of God’s grace in order to fulfil that purpose. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to be a minister; if you’re a disciple that serves the Lord you must be willing to be a good example to the people around you. For example, Paul gave his disciple six areas in which they must be a good example: “in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
In the Word we are advised not to be gossipers or loose-tongued, “whoever guards her mouth and tongue, keeps her soul from trouble’’ Proverbs 21:23. “keep your heart with all diligence. For out of it springs the issues of life” Proverbs 4:23. All too often our unwisely spoken words come out of an unguarded heart and mind. As Anointed Women with Purpose we must not let frayed hormones, personal insecurities, disappointments or frustrations dictate what comes out of our mouth.
We will be looking at how we can be a good role model in conduct next time. Thank you as you have patiently read with a God-given understanding. Until next time remain blessed
